A new report covering 2008-2012 is available about Unintentional Poisoning Deaths for Community Care of North Carolina (CCNC) Region 10. This region includes Durham, Person, Granville, Vance, Franklin, and Warren Counties. 

Utilization of highly addictive opioid medications has increased 160% in the last 10 years.  In North Carolina the death rate for unintentional poisonings is 11.4 per 100,000 citizens (22nd in the country), with 1140 such deaths occurring in 2011.
